WHY WE CHOSE OUTstanding

The name of our charity, OUTstanding, powerfully encapsulates our core mission. It carries a deliberate double meaning: the word "OUT"proudly signifies the LGBT veteran community and recognises that many were dismissed from the Armed Forces due to their sexuality. The second element, "standing", represents our unwavering commitment to standing alongside and supporting LGBT veterans—particularly those who were unlawfully dismissed between 1967 and 2000.

The name therefore serves both as a statement of pride and as a pledge to deliver outstanding support to those who served our country.The second part, "standing", is our promise to actively stand with and support LGBTQ+ veterans. Specifically, we help those who were unjustly dismissed from the military for being gay between 1967 and 2000.
